AVENIQUE SAFETY RULES
Last Updated: July 16, 2026
Avenique cares about the safety of its community and invests in tools designed to reduce fraud and risk, including identity verification (see our Biometric Information Policy) and community moderation. However, no tool, rule, or verification process can eliminate risk. We cannot control user behavior or verify the character of members, and we do not conduct criminal background checks on our members. Following these Safety Rules reduces risk but does not guarantee your safety. You are ultimately responsible for your own safety, both online and in person.
In an emergency, contact local law enforcement first, before reporting to us: dial 911 in the United States or 112 in Nigeria. Reporting to Avenique is not a substitute for contacting emergency services.
If you are in emotional crisis or thinking about suicide: get help immediately. In the United States, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). In Nigeria, contact local emergency services (112) or a trusted local crisis or mental-health resource. Avenique cannot provide counseling, crisis intervention, or emergency response. See Section 5.4 of the Terms of Use.
By using the App, you agree to review, understand, and adhere to these Safety Rules. If you encounter any user violating these rules, report them immediately via the App's reporting interface or the contact form at the bottom of this page (choose Safety or child-safety report). If you believe you have encountered a minor on the platform or any content that sexualizes or endangers a child, report it immediately. See our Child Safety & CSAM Enforcement Policy for how these reports are handled.
SECTION 1: DIGITAL AND FINANCIAL SECURITY (ONLINE)
Online scams, identity theft, and financial fraud can occur on any digital network. You must protect your personal and financial information:
1.1 Financial Protections
- Never Send Money: Do not send money, wire transfers, digital currency (such as Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies), mobile money, gift cards, or bank credentials to anyone you met on the App, and do not receive or move money on behalf of a match.
- Spot Romance Scammers: Scammers often build trust quickly and then manufacture emergencies (e.g., medical crises, travel issues, family emergencies) to request urgent financial help. Never agree to financial requests from a match, regardless of how convincing their story may seem.
- Avoid Investment Pitches: Block and report any match who attempts to sell you financial products, pitches cryptocurrency investment schemes, or invites you to join forex trading platforms.
1.2 Personal Data Protection
- Protect Sensitive Identifiers: Do not share your home address, work address, social security number, national identification number (including NIN or BVN), or private email address during early conversations. Keep your profile details general.
- Keep Communications Inside Avenique: Keep your conversations inside the App's secure chat system. Scammers routinely pressure users to move to WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, or SMS to bypass Avenique's automated safety filters and reporting features.
- Do Not Share Login Details: Never share your one-time verification passcode (OTP) or OAuth tokens. BafaTech Studio staff will never ask you for your login passcodes.
SECTION 2: PHYSICAL DATE SAFETY (IN-PERSON MEETUPS)
Meeting a match in person is an exciting milestone. However, you must always follow these precautions for your physical safety, especially during the first few meetings:
2.1 Schedule in Public
- Always Meet in Public: Plan your first few dates in busy, populated, well-lit public venues (such as cafes, restaurants, galleries, or public parks during daylight hours).
- Never Meet at Private Residences: Do not agree to meet at a match's home, office, or hotel room, and do not invite a match to your home for a first date.
- Avoid Secluded Areas: Do not go to private or isolated locations (such as secluded beaches, hiking trails at night, or empty parking lots).
2.2 Independent Transportation
- Control Your Commute: Arrange your own transportation to and from the date.
- No Home Pickups: Do not allow a match to pick you up from your home, office, or school on the first few dates.
- Rideshare or Drive: Use a rideshare service, public transit, or drive your own vehicle so you maintain the freedom to leave at any time.
2.3 Tell a Friend or Family Member
- Share Your Plans: Before the date, tell a trusted friend or family member: the name and profile details of the person you are meeting (share a screenshot of their profile), the name and address of the public venue, and the time you expect the date to end.
- Share Your Live Location: Share your live location (using features like Google Maps or Apple's Find My) with a friend for the duration of the date.
- Schedule a Check-In: Have a friend call or text you at a designated time during the date to verify that you are safe.
2.4 Stay in Control and Alert
- Watch Your Drink and Belongings: Never leave your drink, food, phone, or purse unattended. If you go to the restroom, order a new drink when you return. Watch your drink being poured or served.
- Limit Alcohol and Substances: Keep your mind clear. Excessive consumption of alcohol or use of other substances can impair your judgment and affect your ability to respond to unsafe situations.
2.5 Trust Your Instincts
- Right to Leave: If you feel uncomfortable, pressured, unsafe, or sense that something is wrong, leave immediately. Your safety is far more important than appearing polite.
- Establishment Safety Protocols: If you need help leaving a date or feel threatened, alert the venue staff. Many bars, clubs, and restaurants have safety protocols (such as asking for specific phrases to security or contacting assistance) designed to protect guests from unsafe situations.
SECTION 3: RECOGNIZING AND REPORTING RED FLAGS
Block and report any user who exhibits the following behaviors:
- Financial Focus: Requests money, bank account details, payment handles, or details about your financial status.
- Speed-Running Intimacy: Declares intense love, commitment, or marriage plans very quickly before you have met in person.
- Off-Platform Pressure: Demands that you move the chat to WhatsApp, SMS, or other social media immediately.
- Vague Identity: Evades video calls, refuses to complete selfie verification, or consistently makes excuses for why they cannot meet in public.
- Boundary Violations: Becomes angry, passive-aggressive, or controlling when you set boundaries, refuse to share photos, or decline invitations.
- Inconsistent Stories: Gives conflicting details about their age, profession, education, or location. Inconsistent age or identity claims should also be reported as a potential Community Guidelines violation.
- Encouraging Self-Harm: Encourages suicide or self-harm, shares instructional content about harming yourself, or uses your distress to manipulate you. See Community Guidelines Section 1.4.
Your reports are treated confidentially and play an essential role in keeping Avenique safe.
If harm occurs off-platform: If you experience assault, threats, fraud, or any crime in connection with someone you met on Avenique, contact local law enforcement first. Then report the user to us so we can take enforcement action and, where lawful process requires or permits, cooperate with the authorities investigating the matter.
After you leave Avenique: If you delete your account, stop using the App, or move a relationship off the Service and later suffer any harm—including scam, fraud, assault, injury, or death—involving someone you originally met on Avenique, that harm is not BafaTech's responsibility. BafaTech cannot monitor or control what happens after you leave the platform. See Section 5.3 of the Terms of Use.
SECTION 4: CHILD SAFETY
Avenique is an adults-only platform (18+). Protecting children from exploitation, exposure, and contact on our service is a non-negotiable priority. These rules work alongside our Child Safety & CSAM Enforcement Policy, which governs our detection, reporting, and legal obligations.
4.1 Strictly Prohibited
- Minors on the Platform: You must be 18 or older to create an account or use Avenique. Assisting a minor to access the App, including sharing your account, verifying on their behalf, or vouching for their age, is strictly prohibited.
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Uploading, sharing, requesting, describing, or linking to any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor is banned without exception. This includes AI-generated, drawn, or animated depictions.
- Grooming and Solicitation: Any attempt to contact, meet, sexualize, or build a romantic or sexual relationship with a minor, on or off the platform, will result in immediate permanent ban and referral to law enforcement.
- Photos Containing Minors: Do not upload profile photos that include children, even family members. Crop them out or choose a different photo.
4.2 What To Do If You See It
- Report Immediately: Use the in-App report flow and select the child-safety category, or use the contact form at the bottom of this page (choose Safety or child-safety report).
- Do Not Engage: Do not message, screenshot for sharing, forward, or re-upload any suspected CSAM. Reporting inside the App preserves the evidence we need.
- Priority Handling: Child-safety reports are triaged ahead of all other queues. Where required by law, we preserve evidence and refer cases to NCMEC, NAPTIP, or the appropriate authority.
4.3 Protecting Young People You Know
If you are a parent, guardian, or educator and believe a minor is attempting to use Avenique, use the contact form at the bottom of this page (choose Safety or child-safety report). We will act quickly to identify, suspend, and remove the account.
